The Sharon Arts Center invites all New England artists to submit their work for their 2011 Annual Holiday Juried Minatures Show. “Our goal this year is to have a juried exhibition of high-quality miniature works of art that will compliment each other in the Downstairs Members Gallery,” says Gallery Director Camellia Sousa. “To help us reach this goal we ask that artists submit a series of works that are similar in medium, subject, and frame–for example, a series of oil landscapes in five by seven gold frames.”
All 3D and 2D miniature art that has not been previously shown in the Sharon Arts Center Exhibition Gallery is acceptable, Sousa adds, and all work must be for sale with a maximum price tag of $350. There will be a blanket entry fee of $15 for Sharon Arts members and $25 for non-members. Hand-carried and local entries will be accepted between 11 am and 3 pm Nov. 11 and 12 and Nov. 12 for mailed entries. Jury notifications will be delivered via email on Nov. 17 and the opening reception and awards presentations will be Nov. 18.
The Best of Show award will be $300, first place $200, and second place $100. The show will run at the Sharon Arts Exhibition Gallery, 30 Grove St., Peterborough, through Jan. 13.
Juror for this year’s Holiday Miniature Show will be Elizabeth Johansson, who has been working as a visual artist for 30 years. Her drawings can be found in the permanent collections of the Currier Museum of Art, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the DeCordova Museum. Johansson’s work has been represented by galleries in Boston and New York, and she has studied at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
