Nonprofit Sharon Arts Center invites artists and artisans to an interactive presentation and workshop designed to help them unlock the power of their stories and communicate them to both
customers and to today’s art-buying public. “Unlocking Your Story: the Artists Meaningful Message” will take place at at Sharon Art Center’s Downtown Gallery, Thursday, February 17th, 6:00-8:30PM. “Whether an artist’s work is planted with seeds of a personal nature, ideas about social justice, or even coming from a place of fantastical whimsy—the source and inspiration that feeds creativity can be their best tool for self-promotion,” says Luann Udell of her upcoming workshop. Udell offers alternative ways to channel your inspiration and create a powerful artist statement- one more suited for today’s world of intense social connection.
In this innovative workshop, artists will learn to weave their “source” into their work to more effectively connect with those who experience the work in ways that go far beyond appreciating mere technique. “A good artist statement should make the viewer go back and look at your art again,” says Udell. “As technology plans an increasingly vital role in our world, stories become more important to your process and your reach as an artist.” Attendees are asked to bring a few examples of their work and any recent writings (even drafts) of artist statements. Participation in the workshops is by registration only and space will be limited. To reserve your space, call (603)924-7256 or email register@sharonarts.org. Scholarships and financial aid are available for those in need of support- see the scholarship portion of sharonarts.org for details.
