World Water Day in Words & Music – Celebrating World Water Day Tuesday, March 22nd 6-7:30pm with a free evening
of water-inspired stories, poems, music, and performance, featuring poets Peter Tuttle and Jane Eklund, rapper Khalid Ibrahim and writer Paul Hertneky. Plus a special appearance by Duo Live Oak singer/songwriter Nancy Knowles and musician/composer Frank Wallace.
Recognition of World Water Day is part of Sharon Arts’ ongoing event: “River of Words Stream of Conscience,” a public-participation art installation by Harrisville, NH artist Christine Destrempes. The two-month long exhibition draws attention to the plight of one billion people currently living without access to clean water and the two billion without basic sanitation. More than five million people die every year from preventable, water-related diseases because they do not have access to clean water. The March 22nd event recognizes the gift of water and our responsibility to care for it. Admission is free. For information about more water-related events and details, call (603)924-7676.
