Creatures: Real and Imagined! Exhibit sparks a two-month “Creatures” Celebration, including three events held in conjunction with the Children and the Arts Festival on May 22nd

Peterborough, NH: Sharon Arts Center announces a Juried Exhibition featuring works by participating artists on the theme, “Creatures: Real and Imagined” opening Friday, May 7, and continuing to July 4, 2010. Works in the show present an innovative look at how artists and craftspeople throughout New England capture the creatures of reality and their imagination. The opening reception will be held on May 7th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A Family and Pet Adoption Night will also take place at the reception in partnership with the Monadnock Humane Society. The reception is free and open to the public.

Artists participating in “Creatures: Real and Imagined” include Rosemary Conroy, Liz Fletcher, Eric Duyette, Marty Kelley, Mary Iselin, Dan Brown, Holly Alderman, Kim Webster Cunningham, and Carol Sanchioni Laughner. Jurors included David Macy, Resident Director of MacDowell Colony; Mary Iselin and Liz Fletcher, artists.

RELATED EVENTS:

Three additional events will be held in conjunction with the Children and the Arts Festival on Saturday, May 22nd: – “Birds of Prey” by New England School of Falconry. Martin Connolly, Master Falconer, will have live falcons! (Depot Square Amphitheater) – “Drawing Animals”presented by The Pelkey Family, with Gummy the mini-horse (Depot Square Amphitheater) – “Animal Cookie Decorating” at Sharon Arts Downtown Gallery, presented by Grand Finale Bakery & Café (Sharon Arts Downtown Gallery) "Iguana" by Carol Laughner

On Monday, May 24 at 10:30 am the celebration continues at the Gallery with “Creatures Storytime for Families” presented in partnership with the Peterborough Public Library and storyteller Lisa Bearce, Children’s Librarian. The exhibition and related events are all free and open to the public.

(The Exhibition Gallery is open year round). The Sharon Arts School of Art & Craft in Sharon, NH, offers a wide variety of art classes and programs. The School offices are open Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 4:30pm.
