B This course will focus on a variety of techniques to increase confidence at the torch and on successful planning and completion of projects. There will be more advanced demonstrations tailored to suit the needs and projects of students. Students will get tips for addressing metal challenges with finishing, soldering, and stone setting. BYO metals and stone, and use SAC tools. Students with Jewelry 1 or a comparable class under their belt are welcome. Lab fee: $20. Materials fee: $40–$85 (depending on scope of project) payable to instructor. Tuition: $150, Member Rate: $138.
JEWELRY/METAL -WORKSHOPS

B In this workshop, we will explore making realistic or fanciful flower shapes in 3-D, or in canes – a technique from glassworking which allows for making duplicate patterns easily. These can be used for jewelry, to cover vessels, or just to encourage your garden to grow! Some experience with polymer clay is helpful; bring your own FIMO, Premo, or Kato clays, or purchase some from instructor. Basic tools and baking ovens will be provided. Come make your own mini-garden of blooms of many colors! Tuition: $70, Member Rate: $55.
Play with Clay, for a Day – Connie Gray

B If you have wanted an art medium with almost instant success, try Polymer Clay! This man-made moldable material comes in a myriad of colors, conforms to your creativity, and cures in a toaster oven! In this workshop, we will make beads, buttons, baubles and more to embellish your ensembles! This is a “Make-Bake-Take” Workshop, to introduce you to this fascinating medium! This is a great workshop for those who want to explore new ideas, or for beginners. Tuition: $70, Member Rate: $55.
Cast Metal Sculpture - Joe Montroy
Sat. and Sun., May 5 and 6, 10AM–4PM | JWN
B In this two-day hands-on workshop you’ll learn the fundamentals of making cast metal sculpture, from making the original in clay to pouring the molten metal. We will explore multiple techniques for making molds using resin bonded sand, how to run a traditional cupola furnace, the theory behind melting metals, and how to make your own iron-melting furnace. The workshop will culminate in the pouring of everyone’s molds. Each participant will produce sculptures of their own design, and be given the opportunity to be directly involved in the pours. Students will have the opportunity to work from a selection of metal-types. All ages and abilities welcome. Materials fee: $60. Tuition: $160, Member Rate: $135.
