Sharon Arts Center 2004 Juried Competition Winners

(Peterborough, NH) The Sharon Arts Center announces the winners of its 2004 Juried Competition - Robert Sargent Fay of Hancock, NH, Beverly Rippel of South Easton, MA, and Craig Stockwell of Keene, NH each received the $500 Juror's Award.

Entries were jurored by Mara Williams, independent curator and partner of Artsbridge of Vermont and NYC, visual and performing arts consultants. She is currently curating "Andy Warhol - Intimate and Unseen" at Brattleboro (VT) Museum and Arts Center, where she served as an executive director for 10 years.

Artists were invited to submit slides of two works to the Sharon Arts Center Exhibition Gallery. All original drawings, paintings, prints, photography and sculpture created within the last two years were eligible for entry. There were 120 entries from five states: New Hampshire, New York, Connecticut, Vermont and Massachusetts. 19 artists were selected to exhibit their work. Of the 19 artists selected six were juried artist members of the Sharon Arts Center, they include, Susan Whitten, Kristina Davidson, Carol Gove, Betsy Holmes, David Rusch and Linda Widstrand.

The exhibit runs through November 28, 2004.

Awarded "Best Art Gallery" in 2002 by New Hampshire Magazine, The Sharon Arts Center is a non-profit center that has been committed to the arts and artists for more than 50 years. The School at Sharon Arts received the "Best Art Classes" award from New Hampshire Magazine in 2003.

The Gallery is located at 30 Grove Street, Peterborough, and is open from 10a.m. to 6p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10am to 8pm Friday & Saturday and on Sundays from noon until 5 p.m. Admission is free.
