The beginnings of the New Hampshire Potters Guild go way back to the early decades of the League of New Hampshire Craftsmen. New Hampshire Artist Laureate and long-time Guild member Gerry Williams recalls, "When I came on the scene in 1950, as far as I knew the Guild was in existence. ...The Potters Guild has been going ever since."

The Potters Guild is an inclusive group. All who are interested in clay are welcome -- professional and part-time potters and sculptors, teachers and students. Clay is the stuff that brings us together! Meeting in members' studios all over the state, hosting workshops on a great variety of clay-working and glazing methods, Guild members gather to learn from each other, inspire each other, and just enjoy good times together.

The MESSAGE OF MUD will feature 45 artists with 80 pieces represented, both functional and decorative, in this celebration of clay.

Each Saturday during the exhibit, members from the Guild will provide working demonstrations of wheel thrown, coil and slab techniques, in the Gallery between 11:00am and 1:00pm. Call the Sharon Arts Gallery at 603-924-7676 for more information.

The Sharon Arts Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is, "to stimulate, encourage and promote education in the theory and practice of arts and crafts, through instruction, exhibitions and assistance to the practitioners of the arts and crafts in marketing their products."
