Something “Fishy” At Sharon Arts Downtown

May 9, 2006, Peterborough, NH

Something “FISHY” is happening at Sharon Arts Center’s downtown gallery. You may have noticed during a recent drive or walk down Grove Street that an interesting creature is swimming around in the front window in excited anticipation of a new exhibit to be created and installed next week (beginning on Monday, May 15th!). The brightly- colored 3-D cardboard fish measures 5 feet 4 inches in length and has arrived in the Monadnock Region ahead of his creator, artist and sculptor James Grashow.

Grashow will be visiting Peterborough as Sharon Arts Center’s guest artist from May 15th-May 20th during which time he will be working with area students to create an Aquarium of the Imagination - a larger-than-life under sea cardboard environment filled with sea creatures real and imagined. Beginning on Tuesday, May 16th, the gallery will be accessible through its Grove Street entrance and via the Craft Gallery’s depot square entrance to allow curious visitors to watch as this exhibition evolves from simple cardboard to a “Fish-tastic” installation!

In the meantime….. our fish will have to get used to stopping traffic!

Sharon Arts would like to thank the following community businesses and organizations for their contributions and volunteer support with this exciting project: (two) Anonymous Friends of Sharon Arts, Belletetes, Inc., Children & the Arts Committee, Cobblestone Publishing, ConVal district Arts Enrichment/F.A.C.T.S. Volunteers, the Peterborough Lions Club, and Peterborough Public Library.
