An opening reception celebration is planned for CLICK! Contemporary Responses to Photographic Masterworks the innovative exhibit of Vintage Photographic Masterworks at Sharon Arts Friday, May 6th from 5 to 7pm at the downtown Exhibition Gallery.

The ground- breaking juried exhibit, CLICK!, features vintage masterworks by such renowned  photographers as Robert Frank, Weegee, Edward Weston, Lee Friedlander, Dorothea Lange,

Walker Evans and more in juxtaposition with photographs by regional photographers in a “call and response” format. This show gives regional photographers a unique opportunity to present their work in a broad historical and conceptual context. The end result is an interesting mix of contemporary and vintage works that will challenge visitors to consider the history, and future of an entire medium. [Regional juried photographers participating to be announced later this week!]

“We have acquired a collection of work through a series of generous loans, the quality of which is scarcely seen outside major collections and museums,” said co-curators Alex Cahoon and Luke Kelly. “This is shaping up to be one of the most exciting photography shows of the year, not just in the northeast, but arguably in the entire country. We at the Sharon Arts Center are happy to have this opportunity to present such an exemplary exhibition to such a decidedly enthusiastic and artistic community. We think people will be astounded by the amount of truly exceptional photography being created right here in the Monadnock region and its relation to masters like Adams and Weston.”

Gallery hours are Monday- Saturday from 10-6 and Sunday from 11-5. Further information is available by calling 603-924-7676, or by following us on Facebook.
