The Sharon Arts Center Fine Craft Gallery, 20-40 Depot St., is currently featuring Jayelay Jewelers of Westmoreland, NH as their Craft Artist for the month of August. Jayelay Jewelers is run by husband and wife Jim and Andrea Lorette.
“Jayelay Jewelers uses semi-precious stones, fine metals, and whimsical designs to create jewelry with very broad appeal,”
says Gillian Dierauf, Sharon Art Center’s Craft Gallery Coordinator. “In just a few short months they have become one of our most popular jewelers.”
Hours at the Sharon Art Center Fine Craft Gallery are Monday through Saturday 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday 11 am to 5 pm.

Grand Opening for NH Potters Guild Biennial at Sharon Arts,
Friday, July 1st, 5-7pm
Sharon Arts Center a non–profit art organization in Peterborough, NH is partnering with The New Hampshire Potters Guild for their upcoming biennial exhibition. The New Hampshire Potter’s
 Reconstruction Book by James Mitschmyer
Guild is an inclusive clay organization devoted to the clay community of New Hampshire. Committed to education and community action, the Guild meets several times a year for organizational meetings, workshops, and discussions of methods, collaboration on projects and exhibitions, and more. The organization’s 2011 Biennial takes place at Sharon Arts Exhibition Gallery, in downtown Peterborough NH with an opening Friday July 1st 5-7pm and continuing through August 27th, 2011. This exhibition is generously sponsored by Sequoya Technologies Group, LLC of Peterborough, NH.
“Sharon Arts Center is thrilled to once again partner with the New Hampshire Potter’s Guild,” said Gallery and Store Director Camellia Sousa. Sharon Arts Center had previously hosted the 2007 biennial, Message of Mud. “Sharon Arts has a very strong clay program and a long history of producing some of the region’s most accomplished clay artists- students who learn with us and potters who make a living selling their work at our non-profit gallery.”

Sharon Arts Invites the Public to Join us For a Day of
Children in the Arts Day Activities
May 21st, from 10:30am to 2:30pm
A day of fun and discovery behind the lens is on tap at Sharon Arts’ Downtown Galleries in celebration of Children in the Arts Day Saturday, May 21st from 10:30am-2pm. The activities for
 Aaron (age 10) and mom Tara Potter of Temple, NH
children are designed to engage families with our current exhibition Click! focused on photographer at the Exhibition Galleries located on Grove St. in Peterborough, NH.
Free, family-friendly hands-on opportunities will include: how to make photocopy transfers, color tinting of black and white photos, plus an exhibit of student photographs will show attendees the “magic” of photography. The activities will be held on Saturday, May 21st at 10:30am to 2pm. Activities are free and open to the public and no reservations are required. “It is always a pleasure to welcome families into our gallery during Children and the Arts Day, and throughout the year,” commented Melanie McDonald- SAC’s Dir. of Community Outreach. “Engaging with and providing opportunities for budding artists in our community, is just one reason why we are honored to participate in this amazing annual festival!”
Visitors will also be treated to a delightful collection of student work from area elementary schools lead by local photographers Kimberly Peck and Diana Place. The project, arranged via the ConVal Arts Enrichment program will be on display through Sunday, May 22nd with an opening reception Thursday, May 19th from 6:30-7:30pm.

Sally Johnston, owner and artist of Sallyrocks of Bow, NH, brings a unique collection rich in design using Austrian crystals, semi-precious stone, freshwater pearls and sterling silver to the

non-profit Sharon Arts’ Craft Store as the featured craft artisan for the month of May.
Ms. Johnston began designing jewelry in 2002. The lush necklaces, bracelets and pendants, many with coordinating earrings, are distinctively designed and crafted of turquoise, amethyst, silver, pearls and an array of semi-precious stones in dramatic colors. Her love for color and style inspires each handcrafted piece and has helped to expand her collections to discriminating shops and resorts across New England as well as throughout the United States and Caribbean islands.
“I discovered Sally’s work on a trip to Naples, Florida. I was excited to find out she was from New Hampshire, and happy to now be showing her work at Sharon Arts Center,” remarked Gallery and Store Director Camellia Sousa.
