Hari Kirin, author of “Art & Yoga: Kundalini Awakening in Everyday Life,” will present a program on art and yoga as complementary practices at the Sharon Arts Center School of Art & Craft, 457 NH Rt. 123, on Sunday, July 31 from 1:30 to 4 p.m.

Participants will learn step-by-step guidelines for their personal practice and, according to Kirin, “hopefully gain inspiration to work with groups and in the community.” Simple breathing, movement, and meditation exercises for relaxation and creativity will be demonstrated. No prior yoga experience is necessary, but Kirin encourages those attending to wear loose or stretchy clothing and to eat lightly before the program.
From 1:30 to 2 p.m. there will be an introduction on caring for body, soul and spirit; from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Kirin will demonstrate how to put art and yoga into practice; and from 3:30 to 4 p.m. there will be a question and answer period.
An artist and yoga instructor, Hari Kirin Kaur Khalsa teaches at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health, the Antrim Girls Shelter, Omega Institute for Holistic Health, and the Union Mill in Peterborough. Her work may be seen at www.artandyoga.com.
There is a $25 fee for the workshop. The author’s book, newly published this summer, will also be available for purchase.
