The Warfield Collection
The Warfield Collection, by Robert and Virginia Warfield.
(Online Gallery, Info Booklet, and Documentary Clip)
Ruffled Grouse Detail
Each piece is carved in basswood by Robert, and painted in oils by Virginia. Each bears both signatures and is numbered and dated. The birds’ eyes are glass; the feet were executed by Robert, using a “lost wax casting” technique that he developed. Various other metals were used in the branches, flowers and other habitat. All (except for the miniatures,) are life sized.
This “Warfield Collection” can be found at the Sharon Arts School of Art and Craft, Route 123, Sharon, NH.
Additional pieces are on display and are for sale, at the Downtown Exhibition and Fine Art and Craft Galleries, at 30 Grove Street in Peterborough.
