Sharon Arts Center presents
Trompe l'Oeil Fine Art Painting with Larry Charles
September 26, 27 and 28

Cabin Lure, Oil on Wood panel by Larry Charles

The Sharon Arts Center is pleased to present a three-day workshop in the fine art of Trompe l'Oeil painting with Larry Charles, the founder of the Trompe l'Oeil Society of Artists.  Larry's work is shown in the Phoenix Art Museum in Arizona and in the Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin, and he is represented in galleries in New York, Santa Fe, and Singapore.  Larry has been an instructor at the University of Southern California and continues to lead the Trompe l'Oeil Society, a group of nine of the leading professional fine art trompe l'oeil painters working in America today.

Trompe l'oeil (French for "fool the eye") is the art of
creating a 3-D illusion in paint.  Larry's workshop at the Sharon Arts Center will introduce painting students of all levels to the techniques, tools and compositional elements required to create a believable image on canvas or gessoed masonite. Oil, acrylics, or gouache paints can be used, depending upon the student's preference. Classroom demonstrations will focus on how to achieve super-realistic effects, fine detail and various textures.  The workshop will take place on September 25, 26 and 27, from 10am - 4pm each day.
